Apply online and through an internal referral. HR sends LinkedIn connection request (lesson learned, don't accept in the future). We schedule interview for a few days later. 45 minute Teams video call....HR opens with asking me the name of the person who referred me....HR had not proactively contacted them for insights about me....such a wasted opportunity to learn! Job description says needs to occasionally crack Jira....actually this job is SME expert for product engineering (one of Slalom Build's nine subject areas)...so you better know your Jira (I do!). Per Slalom's website, the position was posted 4/9/2025....almost three months ago! HR just now getting to it now, he says. Also says just starting, early in the interview process. The HM on vacation this week, so will get resume to them next week (that means HM does not prescreen resumes). No mention of what I would like about Slalom or much other positive feedback. No details on process or next steps. They hope to fill the position in the next one or two months. It has been open for over three months. No sense of urgency in filling the position. I told the HR that this was not the way to recruit for a position, especially for a company that calls itself human centered. If you want to keep on looking for a few months, have at it. You haven't spoken to my referral, and you think it is totally reasonable that candidates should wait months for your process to play out. Hard pass.
