      Business Relationship Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Smith+Nephew (London, England) in Jun 2025

      Interview

I am writing this review to warn future candidates about the deeply flawed and disorganised recruitment process I experienced for the IT Director, Business Relationship Manager at Smith & Nephew. The company demonstrates a fundamental lack of respect for a people's time. The total recruitment process, from the first screening to the final decision, lasted approximately four months. This process required me to complete 4 separate rounds of interviews with multiple stakeholders across the organisation. Following every single interview, there was an unacceptable and consistent delay of 2 to 3 weeks before feedback was shared or the next step was scheduled. The assigned recruiter was extremely difficult to reach and appeared to lack control or clarity regarding the process timeline and status updates. I was repeatedly forced to chase the recruiter simply to receive feedback or move forward. After four months and multiple rounds, I was informed that I was one of the two final candidates who would speak with the senior business leader. Yet, after that meeting, I had to chase the recruiter for over 10 days to receive the final negative decision. The demonstration of disrespect for my time was seeing the exact same IT Director role re-posted publicly the very next day after my delayed rejection. This proves that the company was either not ready to hire or that their process was so flawed that they wasted a significant amount of a final candidate's professional time, only to reset the search immediately. Warning to Prospective Candidates: If you are a senior professional, be prepared for a recruitment process that is grossly inefficient, plagued by excessive delays, and shows a profound disregard for your professional time. A four-month commitment for an unfilled role is unacceptable. I strongly advise proceeding with caution.
