I appllied for the operations specialist position in Solar City in late November. Two days later, I was contacted by the director of operations to schedule a phone screen, which we decided to do the following day. The phone screen was easy— a detailed break-down of my resume, and a few questions regarding why I wanted to work at Solar City. As the phone screen came to an end, I was immediately invited to come and do an in-person interview at their headquarters the following week. I was led to assume that it would be a one-on-one with the same director of operations who conducted the phone screen, but it turned out to be a panel interview. The interview went well. They asked me about my operations background, what was the most difficult customer experience I've ever had, and how did I resolve it? Etc, etc, etc... One of the interviewers threw in some "gotcha!" questions, asking me what the standard unit of measurement was for natural gas, and to define the photovoltaic process. Luckily, I studied up on solar power before I arrived, and I did well. The interview, overall, went great!
However, that was two weeks ago. I was promised feedback and next-steps, one way or another, but I am still in the dark as to whether I will receive an offer or not. I've emailed the operations director a few days ago to see if she had any feedback for me, but I haven't heard a peep from Solar City for the past two weeks. Anyways, I hear the pay is terrible...maybe I should move on.
