I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Solera (Zürich) in Jun 2018
Interview
I had a 30min interview with HR which resulted in her speaking for 25 mins and me for 5min. This was as close to an automated message as I could imagine. I should have know at this stage it was strange company.
I was then invited to answer questions via a recorded video. Once this was done I was invited to a first round of interviews. The gentlemen in this interview loop were both decent guys. They highlighted the "peculiar culture" and the "peculiar boss". I raised the concern that I didn't have the exact background but they both said we are hiring for high potential candidates and they saw my profile as a very good fit. Feedback after very postiive on to the next round.
Next two interviews were on the same day. My line manager and lab boss. Neither impressed me and never mentioned one positive thing about the company. The line manager cut me off 5 words into my first response to one of his questions to disagree. I simply continued the sentence and demonstrated that if had he listened to the next two words he would have got the response he needed. Neither invited questions from me at the end of the interview. I had to request it. Nonetheless the feedback was very positive from both.
Then I was made to waited for 2 weeks before I was invited for a phone interview with the CDO in Dallas. He was very nice and interested. He told me he wanted me to speak to one of his peers as he had thought I would be very valuable in a more senior role.
I waited another two weeks then I received a no from HR saying I had not enough Software Development experience. In every interview, including the first HR interview, this was mentioned as not a problem but it became an issue at the end.
My advice is to AVOID Solera at all costs. It is a shambolic organization with no idea how to treat employees or potential candidates.
Two rounds with different individuals, then an offer from Human Resources person verbally, with a letter afterward. The team was helpful and organized in the process, with clear follow ups.
