      Associate Product Manager Interview

      Dec 2, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Southern California Edison (Los Angeles, CA) in Dec 2022

      Interview

There really isn't an interview process. They give you an assessment test; which is really a personality test. They claim its an individual contributor/work styles although not one question is about handling any functions of the job. They are all personality tests in which Edison uses as a way to eliminate good people. It's a test that doesn't allow you to choose "disagree". Your only choices are "agree" or "slightly agree", even if you don't agree. I graduated with a psychology degree with a 3.9 GPA and have been excellent in my jobs and very tenured. I was looking for opportunity to grow. After "not passing" the assessment-eliminated me from the process. These tests should only be used as a guide, not determine if a person is worthy of hire. Also, Edison does not tell you the results of the assessment, and why they chose not to hire you. Leaving an opening for them to be biased based on race and age. I believe its another way to discriminate against minorities, as well as age (class discrimination). Edison has other law suits for discrimination, the ads are all in the paper. This assessment is unfair and is being used in the incorrect way. Edison also has a red asterisk when you are completing your profile. It makes you put in your birth year stating they need the info for "demographic" reasons etc. They say it won't be used against you, apparently they do use it against you. I have decided that Edison is not the right fit for me. Instead of the other way around. I am looking into starting a campaign to ban these tests altogether. They are unfair and unjust. When a person is denied employment solely on a personality test; When people are getting denied for credit an explanation is given. Edison and other corporations should have to do the same. There should be an explanation for that decision and we should see it. This way they cannot pick and choose by race or age etc. How about getting back to meeting people and going over their resume and get a genuine feel. These tests are designed for people who can beat them. Not for hard working people.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

In the assessment; Do I like to travel? It's ok to get what you want through flattery? I could only choose "agree or "slightly agree" Although I disagree with this statement.. Just an example of the types of questions, being asked where the only choice was "slightly agree to something you don't.

Battery A For those of you wondering, Battery A is a personality test. Focuses on seeing which statements a person is less likely to choose. It went smooth for me, waiting for next step.
