I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at SpaceX (New York, NY) in Jun 2018
Interview
Applied online to multiple positions. Heard back from a recruiter within two days. Had an initial phone screen with the recruiter, with basic personality type questions. Then next day the recuiter scheduled me for a technical phone interview with an engineering manager. First he asked me to describe a project I had worked on and then asked increasingly technical questions based on that project. Questions were clearly trying to judge whether I had a good fundamental mechanical understanding. A few days after the first call the recruiter scheduled a second technical phone call. This call was similar but slightly more challenging and had some fundmental engineering questions and some manufacturing process questions. I was dropped from the candidate pool after the second technical phone interview.
