Just had an on-site and the experience was quite negative. Before the on-site, there were two rounds of technical phone interviews and preparation for technical presentation. The slides were forwarded to the team 3 days before on-site, to review. Got the green light without actual feedback. Went to the company and finished presentation, and one round of 1:1. All of a sudden, the next interviewer was nowhere to be found, and recruiter was also very puzzled. In the next 10 mins, there was no explanation or message passed from the hiring manager about why the no show. Basically they walked out of the interview without any notice, and my recruiter said he would let me know what happened. This was the first time of such incident in my 10+ years of career life. The presentation was average, not disastrous. Few questions were asked during the presentation, but none of them were related to the filed of study, to my surprise. Anyway, at the end of the day, there was still no response from SpaceX, so I sent an email by telling them I would withdraw my application, since the practice is very humiliating to candidate. I can't say for the rest of the company, but at least this wasn't the first time they walked out in the mid of an interview process, a very drastic contrast to the image they presented to the general public.
