      Customer Advocate Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Sprout Social

      Interview

Brace yourself for a lot of waiting around. I applied through LinkedIn and received an email the following day asking me to complete a 2 hour written test which they give you 72 hours to send back. The test is pretty straight forward (questions below). Just be sure to download the free trial of Sprout Social to familiarize yourself with the product and be able to answer questions 2 & 3 specifically. After completing the test, they took 2 weeks to get back to me to tell me I had been successful in getting through to the next round (I had thought I didn't get it at that point). A 30 minute phone screening with someone from HR was scheduled. This was a very pleasant chat. The questions were pretty straight forward, asking about your background and experience, as well as some behavioural questions and the usual 'why Sprout', etc. The second step was a 45 minute phone interview was with the hiring manager two weeks later (as she took some PTO and wasn't available). This was a negative experience for me, and from reading various reviews for this role, seems to be a common theme. The hiring manager was very short, disinterested and kept cutting off my answers. She made the experience very uncomfortable, as I had felt I prepared for the interview but I was getting the vibe that she wasn't interested in my answers. There was no chat, no personality. Two days later I received an automated email telling me that I was not successful. Yes, automated. I found this extremely unprofessional after being involved in the hiring process for a month and a half and having had two interviews. The least I would expect is a rejection email from the hiring manager or the HR person. Thankfully I had other job offers, but overall I was very surprised at how bad my experience was. Maybe other roles for the company have more positive hiring processes? The hiring process for the Customer Advocate role definitely needs to be revised, particularly the management involved in the making of these decisions.

      Negative experience

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Sprout Social (London, England) in May 2021

      Interview

Probably the worst interview process that exists! The recruiter was inexperienced in her role, possibly too young for the position. She asked me to turn off my camera beginning of interview as hers was off, gave false hope in our communication emails and misleading information, advising I was the perfect candidate for the role.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Sprout Social (Denver, CO) in Nov 2020

      Interview

The interviewer only did a main screening. My background directly aligns with this position with years of experience. She asked me about my resume and then asked if I had questions about the position. She barely told me anything on her end in regards to what the position entails or the company. In my opinion a terrible interviewer. I tried to engage her in conversation and told her a relatable aspect of the position from a question I had asked her. I thought she would respond but instead there was a long silence and she just said "ok do you have any more questions?" She was completely uninterested in anything I had to say. It was almost as if she didn't even care to talk to me.

      Interview

Took forever. Initial interview, second interview, writing sample, final interview, closing notice. The interviewers were super scripted and did not provide much feedback. They really heavily wanted to hear concrete examples. Only my final interview with the higher ups was a normal, conversational interview. Everyone else was "question-answer" with no flow. I was turned down because "I didn't provide ENOUGH specific examples during my last interview." Verbatim from the recruiter.
