Not a great experience. One interview with the recruiter for the role. Basic questions like "Tell me about yourself" and "What do you know about the company?" Then comes the salary expectations question. I gave my base pay and OTE. I was told I was higher than what they are offering. After that the recruiter tried to get me to drop out myself. I told her I would still be willing to speak with the hiring manager so I can get a good understanding of the role, the experience they at interested in that fits their salary. Recruiter then made very clear the salary is non-negotiable.
With a few minutes remaining in the call I was asked if I had any questions. One question I always ask "What is the top skill the hiring manager is looking for?" I'm not joking when the recruiter said that the role requires a high level of negotiating customer contracts so experience with negotiations is key. My eyes rolled pretty hard in the back of my head that the employer, especially this role then, is preventing candidates from negotiating the salary.
I was not surprised when I received the email that I would not be moving forward.
Salary is $60k base, $120k OTE - lower than industry standard base pay for this role.
