I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in May 2021
Interview
Initially contacted by a St. Jude recruiter. Had an initial phone interview with the position's supervisor. The interview was straight forward - discussion of my skills and experience and discussion of the position. A few weeks after that conversation, the supervisor reached out to me to say that the position was going to be rewritten and I should reapply. The process of rewriting the position took 6-8 weeks. After reapplying, there was a round of second phone interviews with 3-4 people. After one last round of interviews with a senior member of hospital, I was offered the job.
I think my process was a little longer than is typical but it was 6 months from the time I was initially contacted to when I started work.
Everyone was very kind and helpful. It really comes through how important the mission is to the employees.

Tell me about your experience doing {specific technical process}? Describe your working style - are you able to work independently without extensive supervision?
Thank you for letting us know about your experience! Yes, that is an unusually long time, but rewriting the job does take an advanced approval and notification process to ensure that everyone who had previously applied is made aware of the changes. Thank you for being patient and understanding with us! Welcome to St. Jude!

What are you most looking forward to gaining in this position?
I interviewed at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
Interview
Frustratingly long process (3 months+). After 3 months and after completing an HR screen, hiring manager interview and onsite interview, I chose not to proceed with the additional rounds of interviews they wanted to add for a position that didn't necessarily require any experience. Between interviews, there were very long waiting periods with 0 communication. However, whenever I interacted with or heard from anyone, they were very pleasant/personable. On the whole, I didn't feel the hiring process was transparent (added additional interview steps/tasks with little notice), efficient or respectful of candidates' time. I was SO excited about the position/opportunity to work at St. Jude, but the hiring process turned me off. I know some places have long interview processes with even more rounds, but I think that might make more sense for higher level positions with leadership responsibilities.
