I received an invitation to complete a HireVue about 1 week after applying. After submitting the video recordings, I received an email inviting me to a panel interview (virtual) which included the hiring manager. Then the recruiter called to share more about the role, disclosing the salary range. At that point I was no longer interested but I continued with the interview for practice. Had the recruiter just called and spoke with me beforehand, we could have eliminated the HireVue step altogether. To the recruiter's credit, I received a personal call telling me I did not get the job, which was above and beyond what most recruiters will do for a candidate.
