I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Staples (Crescent Springs, Kenton, KY) in Aug 2021
Interview
This GM was an informal style and we had a shop conversation in the back of the sales floor for an hour. This GM shared with me that she started with the company as a GM three and a half years ago and liked the company’s approach to business and level of autonomy she was afforded as the GM of her own store and shared with me their successes since she’s been there. I was liked for a F/T supervisory role when I came in for a P/T RSS role, and accepted. They are able to scale pay and adjust over time to show appreciation and help retain the team members, not limited only to an annual review bump. From an experienced Merchandiser perspective this seems to be a great fit for anyone who enjoys to engage customers with pride and ownership of their visit and give them your best guest experience as well as fresh stock to keep growing and learning over time. I could see myself becoming a GM myself here for maybe the first time anywhere. It was a courteous and candid interview that I personally enjoyed enough to review.

Interview
After I applied for the Retail Sales Associate position online, I was very quickly asked to schedule an interview, so I chose a Thursday morning during store hours which was 5 days away. Once I arrived at Staples for the interview, I found out that there were only two employees working there, the manager wasn’t even there, and the nobody knew when he would show up. I waited 30 minutes in the store before leaving. Do not work here unless you like managers who don’t respect your time.
I applied online. I interviewed at Staples in Oct 2025
Interview
I went through an initial interview (1 out of 2), which focused on basic questions like availability, work hours, prior experience with retail or customer service, and physical requirements (such as lifting a certain amount of weight). The store manager wasn’t available that day, so the initial interview was handled by the sales manager. The store manager selected the best candidates from the first round of interviews to continue to the second round, which I didn't make it to. The second interview seems it’d be more in-depth and challenging than the first, which was quite easy.

The thing they focused on the most was my availability. Second was my prior experience dealing with customers and doing conflict resolution.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Staples (Fremont, CA) in Jul 2025
Interview
Really simple asked about customer service experience, situational question about upselling and availability. Didn’t bring in a resume just had a one on one interview with the store manager. Waited for about twenty minutes for someone to come see me though.
