I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at TEKsystems (Toronto, ON) in Jun 2016
Interview
It was for another employer and TekSystems was the staffing agency for it. The process took long - almost one month. Their references requirements kept changing for instance they asked for 7 years old reference almost at the end of the process. Though spent more time with TekSystems to explain the technology and experience because the recruiter (a recent graduate) was not aware of the technology.
There was a phone and in-person interview with TekSystems and then subsequent phone and in-person interviews with the company I was contracted to. TekSystems provided coaching ahead of the interview with the customer.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at TEKsystems in Jul 2025
Interview
The recruiting process felt rushed and disorganized. The job I was initially pitched did not match the role I interviewed for, and communication around responsibilities and expectations was vague. I was eventually offered a contract position, but not for the role I interviewed for, and I was pressured to accept verbally immediately before seeing anything in writing. I actually thought this was a scam until I was given a Teksystems login to onboard. The paperwork I was given lacked any details about the job itself. I was never even told what the job title was.
When I hesitated because this whole process was sketchy and I also had concerns about the contract and how it might conflict with my existing work, I was told there would be “negative consequences” if I didn’t sign the contract which felt threatening and unprofessional. I decided to walk.
Met with recruiter and account manager, schedule two rounds of interview with the end client and received an offer to work in a contract position. After the interviews, the recruiter worked with me to explain the process and next steps.
