1) Applied for a job as an IHG customer support worker online. Contacted by a recruitment agency from Dublin shortly after who helped me with preparing for the online tests, interviews, etc. She sends me a link to several online tests which I take and send back to her. Online tests included writing paragraphs in English, as well as a generic tourism survey, and a 'about me' section asking personality questions and hobby stuff.
2) Scheduled the first interview with Teleperformance for a specified date/time and get a call from a lady claiming to be conducted the interview for Teleperformance, so I go ahead and do the interview, and the woman told me that I would start the training period during March.
3) Get an email from the recruiter asking me why I was NOT available for the interview. (very confused at this point! ) I explained to hear that I had a call from a lady and I ALREADY did the interview, and she told me I would start a training programme in March. It turns out there was a MIXup and the women who called me found my CV too and was from another recruitment agency searching for people for the same role, and somehow happened to ring me at the same time my interview was scheduled for.
4) So the recruiter arranges another interview with me for the next day, and I go through the SAME questions. The interviewer repeated a lot of questions, using slightly different wording, so It was difficult to respond with new information. Also, It was also quite difficult to understand the accent of the interviewer from time which is understandable as she was not a native English speaker, but did make the telephone interview more difficult. Overall, It was a very formal Telephone interview with a lot of questions considering that this is a Call Centre Role.
5) I passed' this interview stage, and they said we had to now arrange a 'test' call with the client. I was sent a 'script' to read from for a hotel booking and asked to personalise it as much as possible. The recruiter I had done the first interview with arranged the test interview with me for a time/date, and I waited for the call. A completely different women rang me to conduct the test ( at this point I was completely confused because of my previous experience with this company so far and their mix-ups), but I went along with the call. I followed the script while adding my personal touch to the call, but the interviewer mentioned throughout the call that the volume was low. The interviewer was called from another country this time, so this may be why. Overall, this interviewing process made me sincerely question if this is a company I WANT to work for. Perhaps Luckily, I did not get the job in the end due to performance on the test, they did not give me any further information despite my request. Relieved not to get the job as I found their interviewing style and lack of co-ordination very confusing! Was also not able to visit Teleperformance for an in person interview despite being in the vicinity of Lisbon.
Overall - Lots of time wasted for a Call Centre job, paying slightly above minimum wage.
