1) Phone screening with local HR in Israel
2) Face-2-face with local HR
I walked out in the middle of the interview. Allow me to explain:
First of all, I had applied for a Tier-3 position and for some reason they only considered me for a Tier-2 position, even though I was overqualified. To make things worse, the interviewer kept belittling my experience, which is an old tactic aimed at reducing candidates' confidence and making them settle for less money. Furthermore, the salary (which according to the phone screening sounded somewhat negotiable), suddenly became even lower than what HR had told me over the phone. Despite my "lacking experience", HR still wanted me to move on to the next phase, which, in my opinion, is a hint that the company is looking to hire exceptional people who are willing to settle for low salaries, instead of simply paying them what they're worth.
I passive-aggressively apologized for wasting their time and left.
I'm also responsible for this bad experience, should have asked more questions during the phone interview, but was too optimistic that things would work out.
It wasn't all bad though, I should commend them for the following:
- Swiftness: We talked on the phone and scheduled a face-2-face interview the following day.
- Despite the uselessness of the interview, HR were nice overall.
- The offices are really nice.
