I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Target (San Diego, CA) in May 2012
Interview
Campus Recruiter was at my University at the end of February. Asked some questions about the job and expressed my interest. She walked me through the behavioral based questions and said she would recommend me to the recruiter (she liked my leadership experience, confidence, GPA, and interpersonal skills). I was connected with the recruiter for the location I wanted to apply for mid March. (University in LA and was applying for SD) Had a quick phone interview asking about my interests in Target. Then I had to do the online application and take the personality test.
Got scheduled for my 1:1 interview with a STL in San Diego for early April. She was super nice and it was more of a conversation. She asked the 5 questions. Have stories in mind. Look at the other post in here.. I am writing this because of how helpful this site was..
Got a phone call a few days later to schedule the next interview. This was with the DTL and an HR person. Had that one early May. Slightly more challenging but pretty much the same. They asked 4 questions that were almost identical which made it hard.
Got scheduled for my Final Phone Interview with HR. She asked 2-3 behavior based questions and also about strengths and weaknesses. Why they should hire me.. typical interview questions. She said I would hear the next day if I got it or not. They didn't call till after the weekend. But offered me a job. Had to do a drug test and got th oficial offer now. End of May..
Long process but was worth it. I hear great things about the company and everyone I met and worked with made me even more excited about it.
They are looking for people with strong interpersonal skills and consistency. Be confident and show you are fun person. They are all about their "fast fun company" phrase. Good luck.

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Target (Charlotte, NC)
Interview
It was a two step interview process. Personable and you are able to interview with not only your direct managers but theirs as well. Provides transparency into your new team. My interview was virtual because I was moving to the area, but I'm sure they do in person for local folks.
