      Operations Manager Interview

      Mar 4, 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at TaskUs in Feb 2022

      Interview

First I had an informal interview with a recruiter via phone and we discussed my background and skill set for the role. The questions were very situational ("tell me about a time when...") and allowed for me to bring my own experience into the conversation. I scheduled the second interview with a panel for the next day. That interview was over video and started late. There were two people supposed to be on the panel but the second person showed up late and didn't introduce themselves. Overall, the interview with my prospective boss was very operational based. They asked procedural questions based on my experience and how I would handle situations. The questions were very fast paced and left no room for feedback so I wasn't sure how it the interview went. A week went by without any communication about the next steps and the recruiter let me know that they wanted to connect to discuss a pending offer and interview feedback. We never got to the feedback part because I was formally offered the role, however the salary was about $20k less than I was expecting and didn't align with the market value. I asked if the salary was negotiable and gave my salary expectations which the recruiter took back to the higher ups and told me they'd reach back out. At this point I realized the recruiter wasn't the best communicator because there was no follow up and every time we communicated it was because I reached out first asking about a status update. Another week or so went by without any communication so I figured they went with another candidate, despite having received an offer and a conversation about salary negotiations. Finally, I hear back from the recruiter and they were apologetic because their family had COVID and couldn't move anything forward during that time. They told me that if I was still interested they'd send an offer letter with an approved higher salary for the role. I agreed, signed the letter, and the next day my prospective boss signed and completed the offer letter. I had my projected start date but no further instructions. The week before I was supposed to start, I reached out asking about the next on-boarding steps. The following week the recruiter said I was all set and someone would reach out to me soon. The day before I was scheduled to start I reached out again asking about next steps and received no response. The day I was supposed to start I received no communication from anyone at the company so I reached out to an HR rep via email that I found in the offer letter info and received no response. At this point I knew that I'd been ghosted and wasn't going to move forward with the position but since I signed and completed an offer letter, I wanted to make sure it wasn't legally binding. My guess is that they extended more offers for the role than they needed to cover their bases. However, I would have appreciated the decency of being told they were going with other candidates. This whole process was confusing, unprofessional, and something I've never experienced before.

      Application

      Interview

A quick 10-15 minute Google Meet interview with a recruiter. Followed by a crazy personality test which at one point asked me how much of my shift would it bother me to see people getting dismembered. Followed by a vocabulary and pronunciation test like this was a call center. That was concluded with a Google Meet interview with a hiring manager who seemed distracted the entire time, even pausing the interview to take a phone call. A week later I got a bait and switch with the schedule that was discussed (M-F 08:00-17:00) to the schedule that was offered (W-Su 22:00-06:00) and low-balled on the offer for $15,000 less than what had also been discussed.

      Interview

I passed 3 interviews and I have to tell that it was pleasure for me dealing with the recruitment team, but, also with the manager and the VP of the Company. Company's communication throughout the recruitment process has been truly exceptional! Afroditi Prifti was extremely helpful. She was very encouraging and supportive. She handled my case with a lot of patience and I am really glad and lucky that I got an opportunity to work with Afroditi, Maria and Nikos. The company showed me from the first interview professionalism, genuine interest and honesty about the role I was hoping to get so they made the process very easy and pleasant for me.
