I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Tempus AI (Chicago, IL)
Interview
The process started off pretty standard. Talked to someone in HR, and after the 30 minutes I was told that I would be moving forward in the process. The next step was a take-home project that I would work on and turn back in. I spent a few days on it, got some interesting results (it was actually pretty fun to work on), and sent it in. After my results were reviewed I received an email saying they wanted to move me forward to the next step. This is where my experience turns negative. I was asked what my availability for the following week was, and I replied with the days/times I was available. The end of the week came and went, and I received no response. I followed up with my availability for the following two weeks, but got no response again. I followed up one more time about two weeks later, but also nothing. I was completely stonewalled after being told they liked my results and wanted to move forward. This was about 3 months ago now.
It was so disheartening and completely changed my entire outlook on the company. After speaking to a recruiter about this, I found out that this occasionally happens at Tempus. My best advice is that if you're interviewing with them and you get an offer anywhere else, just take the job. They don't seem to take the hiring process seriously and I honestly regret turning down positions that I got along the way because I was so excited to work here. It really shows how little the company actually cares despite the fact that their mission is.

Question 1
Basic HR questions. Take-home dataset where you get to play around with it and see what results you can come up with.
First, I got an email from the recruiter and then he scheuled a call for screening. It was then followed by the hiring manager interview. They canceled the interview the morining of the interview and then they rescheduled it with no issue. The hiring manager was friendly.

Question 1
How do you manage time if you have multiple projects in hand?
The recruitment coordinator was helpful, responsive and friendly. The coding test is a bit ridiculous, though. They will judge you on coding style and adherence to conventions far more than your scientific rationale or ability to reason about experiments. Really impersonal and they don't treat you with much respect.
No recruiter screening, got to 1-1 hiring manager round recruiter responses very promptly, rejected one week after the interview, overall very smooth process. Hiring manager seems very smart and thinks really fast.
