I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Salvation Army in Jul 2008
Interview
I was interviewed by an HR representative, as well as the department head. The questions were standard (how I first heard about the company, my strengths/weaknesses, etc.). Salary was set and not much room for negotiation.

Question 1
Are you familiar with the mission of The Salvation Army?
I had a connection within the organization so getting an interview was easy. It was a phone call, we meant for lunch. I don't really have much more to say about it. It's pretty easy to network within this nonprofit.
Come at scheduled appointment and be interviewed by two people on management team. If they want to proceed further, they call your references and upon receiving those, they decide to make you an offer.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at The Salvation Army (Chicago, IL) in Feb 2023
Interview
Very intensive panel interview. Asked many questions to decided if I was fit. Panel was a bit over an hour. The second interview was not pleasant from one of the directors. Interviewer was not in a good mood, and simply seem to not be prepared to have a second intervew.
