I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at The Trade Desk (Sydney) in Apr 2016
Interview
The TTD interview process is long; but they admit it, and were open upfront about what was involved.
Their interview process (for a Senior Software Engineer position in Sydney in 2016) was:
- 1/2 hour Skype interview with HR in US
- Hour interview at their Sydney office (easy questions)
- Take home coding task (no time limit)
- Review of coding task via Skype (1 hour)
- 2 hour Skype interview and algorithm test with a Senior Engineer in US
- Another 2 hour interview - this time an hour each with 2 more Senior Engineers in US
- Finally the same again - 2 hours, an hour each with 2 different Senior Engineers in US
For me, the whole process took about 6 weeks from start to end. I made it most of the way through, but on the penultimate interview they told me they would not be progressing my application any further. I've been told I got through the process a lot further than most.
My understanding is they review and adapt their whole interview process over time.
Everybody during the interview process was very professional, and you could tell they were passionate about their work at TTD.
Lots of the questions revolved around algorithms, and working out / discussing a solution with the interviewer. They seem to be after a particular fit for their team, and a particular way of working.

I applied online. I interviewed at The Trade Desk (Singapore) in Feb 2026
Interview
1. Applied Online.
2. Received/Completed Hackerrank Online Assessment.
3. Recruiter call about the role, salary expectations and leveling -- expecting next technical interview
4. One week later recruiter reached out that the role has been filled.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at The Trade Desk in Sep 2025
Interview
Online Assessment, followed by a Hiring Manager interview that was System Design + Behavioral. Didn't pass that stage, was not given a reason, but I assume it was the system design portion. Next stage would have been a loop (2 coding + 1 system design).
I interviewed at The Trade Desk (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
- recruiter
- hiring manager chat about exp
- coding screen
- onsite
Overall pretty standard interview and good experience hence why i joined. interviews were collaborative and practical rather than obscure algorithms
