Thomson Reuters Software Engineer interview questions

I had an in as a contractor so the bulk of my interview process was the work that I had already done for the company. This saved me the standard multistep process and gave me a beeline to full-time employment with all its benefits and drawbacks. Thomson does utilize a lot of contractors, so if this is an option for you, I recommend it.

1st round Online Test Total Apti, 20 Ques, 30 min (In every apti test, ques. r mostly based on speed-time, work, logical series etc. Always there wil b 5 odd higher level questions...never try to solve them) 2nd round GD Luckily, our group was asked to come up with a topic, so we suggested "Living Relationship: Good or Bad" Always try to come up with atleast 2 or 3 concrete points that the whole group accepts... starting d GD is not imp. 3rd Round Tech. PI Asked many questions about C, Data Structures and Algorithms 1) What is malloc() 2) About big-o notation 3) asked to write 2-3 programs in C a) A triangle shape number pattern(easy only u need logic for loops) b) Sorting algorithms 4) Prefix notation of the tree . . . 5)Solve a puzzle U hav 3 balls of 3 different colours and 3 boxes of of that colours. The balls r placed inside boxes such that no ball and box colour matches. u can open just one box. u have to find which box contains which colour ball.....easy ques. If sitting for a firm like Aricent, Unisys, Thomson reuters make sure ur concepts r strong regarding C and Data structures For a company like Rancore u need knowledge of comm. systems For an automation firm, its all abt control systems Subjects that everybody shld work on: Basic electroncs, DEC(logic gates, ff, registers, counters), AEC(Op-amp etc.), Control systems 4th Round HR PI u can get d whole list of HR ques. from ny sitetry to b as truthful as u can bmake sure u show commitment and interest towards d company and d field in which it works some ques r About urself why do u want to join this firm where u c urself in 5 yrs? u r an elex student, so y u want to shift to software side about ur marks as why r they so low...(especially for students havin backs) interested in PG? Be thorough about details of ur projects and training in ur resume Firm representatives r very polite & calm.... dont b nervous always research on d company(through their site lik their field of work, firm history, current CEO etc.).....helps in hr round
