Reached out to chat with recruiter Jennifer Lam about a Principal Engineer role when I applied for a Senior Engineer role. Since they offered to interview me for this, I obliged. The call was an information-seeking call asking about the best practices, vendors and technologies my current workplace (a major retailer) uses instead of a legitimate interest in my candidacy. After letting them know my concerns and interests in other better fitting roles, I was told I would be reached out the following week. I was not willing to provide key details due to confidentiality. Overall, this is extremely unprofessional of their recruiting team and their Lead recruiter at that. People should be compensated for their experience and knowledge. Not swindled out of it for the hopes of fake interest.
