TQL's interview process is extremely time consuming and misleading, and slightly shady. The first portion of the interview is a common phone discussion, in which a recruiter contacts you and asks you normal interview-type questions about your past. The recruiter was very friendly and encouraging, and said that I had done great.
I was instructed to complete a "short" assignment (which took quite a bit of time) which consisted of compiling a list of 15 manufacturing companies and determining who they use for their logistics services, and handing that list in upon arrival at the interview. What this does is provide TQL with 15 effortless leads that they can use to try to steal business. You have just done WORK for TQL and you will not be paid for it.
Upon receiving an invitation to drive to the other side of the state (lucky me) for an in-person interview, it was a whole different world. The character who interviewed me was demeaning, condescending, and accusing me of things that didn't even seem pertinent to the position. Upon informing him that it was the recent death of my father that motivated me to finish college and look for a real career, he gave a fake "sorry" and proceeded to tell me that I obviously wasn't motivated enough for a company like TQL. I honestly should have just left the interview right then and there.
They'll have you shadow a TQL employee for an hour or two. The individual I was observing had bloodshot eyes, looked miserable, had a row of empty energy drinks on his desk, and when I listened in on his phone conversations, he was holding the same fake conversations with everyone he spoke to. Small talk about weather must get old after awhile.
I thankfully did not receive an offer.
