I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Trader Joe's (Cary, NC) in Aug 2013
Interview
I walked in and handed an application, had a friendly conversation with the managers, and left. It took a while for the store to get back to me, but when the captain called for an interview, she was very complimentary. I went into one location that said it was hiring online for the interview in their upstairs area. They asked what I do for fun, favorite products they sell, and if I enjoy cooking (easy yes!). They also let me try a new product. When I noted that a different store was closer to my house, the captain called over there and arranged for me to interview with them. I thought that was very kind! I ended up working at the closer location.
The interview process was absolutely wonderful! I didn't feel stressed or nervous and it felt like I was just chatting with a friend! Trader Joes is a great company and the interview was great.
Very chill, asked things a lot of job interviews don't, more personal down to earth questions. Made me feel very comfortable. Professional but also cool vibes from everyone who interviewed me. Went to one interview with mates and another with the captain.
I had 3 separate interviews. 1 was over the phone. 2 were in person. I never heard anything after the third interview. I called the store about a week later and they let me know they didn’t actually have any available positions. Really felt like they wasted my time.
