I applied to Travelers online, which consisted of filling out an application, and uploading my resume, followed by an online assessment. The assessment was a simulation of answering telephone calls. Within a few days I received an email from a hiring manager asking to set up a time for a phone interview. We had the pre-screen phone interview a few days later. That lasted about 30 minutes and consisted of the hiring manager telling me more about Travelers and the position I applied to, and asking me interview questions about my work experience. The questions were mostly situational question, such as "tell me about a time you dealt with..." She made the interview a very comfortable experience. At the end of the interview she said that she would like to set up a time for me to meet with a panel of managers at the Travelers location that I had applied to. I went to that interview two days later. I met with a panel of three managers, all of whom were very friendly and personable. It was a very enjoyable interview experience, as far as interviews go. They again told me more about the company, the training that they would provide, and their expectations, and posed more situational questions about my experience. They ended the interview by showing me around the call center, and introducing me to a customer service rep who showed me her work station, and told me more about the day to day experience in the call center. The next week I heard back from the original hiring manager that I had the phone interview with, who extended the job offer to me, conditional on a drug screen and background check. The background check is extensive, and requires you to fill out an extremely detailed application. Make sure you are extremely careful to fill in accurate information, including dates because they verify that information, and incorrect information results in a failure of the background check. Overall, the background check application, and waiting for the results of the background check was the most stressful part of the process for me, as it took about three weeks to hear back. I was extremely impressed with all the hiring managers I met with, and with the company as I learned more about the benefits they offer, and the resources they make available to their employees. I can't wait for my first day of training to begin.
