15 minute initial phone screening that took place 10 minutes early and felt rushed. My interviewer was honest about her lack of interest in working directly with clients and wanting to be in human resources as a result of not having a degree that benefited her out of college. I asked about the pay and she asked answered it is $20/hr which is exactly what I told her my current salary was. She asked what other companies I'm applying for, to give an example of how I offer technical support to customers and if I want to stay at the company long term. My impression was that they are only interested in hiring people who want to commit long term to the company and seek to promote internally in order to mitigate high salary expectations. I felt that she was very rushed and changed the job description to be about assisting the technical support staff instead of being the primary bridge between clients and staff as described in the posting. Overall the interview turned me off from the company because Technical Support is a talent not a skill so hiring the best candidates means recruiting computer science people which translates into a higher salary.
