The process included a phone interview from their internal recruiter, who then introduced me to a Regional Sales Director who after a near 2 hour interview, asked me to complete an 8 week territory planner, as well as provide current customer references. Following this process, and the Regional Sales Director with whom I had interviewed having been terminated, I was forced to reach back out to the recruiter to find out what had slowed the process to a crawl. I was then again asked to meet with an Area Sales Manager along with another Regional Sales Director in Manhattan where again I was interviewed over lunch and asked many industry questions having little to do with my background, sales process, or skill set. They asked specific questions about my current employer's training process, names of corporate trainers, as well as vendors used for electronic contracts and other industry insider information. Being careful to answer their questions as accurately as possible without divulging sensitive competitive information, I quickly grew weary that the interview was little more than an info grab and not a genuine interview to fill a legitimate opening.
