I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at TrueCar (Santa Monica, CA)
Interview
I reached out directly to a recruiter and we set up a phone screen. Came on-site several times to interview with a handful of VPs, took an Excel test, but eventually was informed that they were selecting another candidate. However, they re-considered me for the same role in another department...repeated the process over the course of several weeks but this time received an offer.

Question 1
A lot of questions about the business model - doing a lot of research beforehand was very helpful.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at TrueCar in Nov 2016
Interview
The interview process at TrueCar was extremely fragmented and frustrating. I was contacted by a recruiter who rescheduled the phone screen multiple times. When she called, she was distracted and I could barely hear her because of the background noise, of perhaps her dogs which seemed very unprofessional. She did not share any information about the interview process and was very vague about the whole thing. She then put me in touch with the hiring manager who due to his travel constraints could not setup a phone screen until a couple of weeks. When the interview was finally setup, he forgot to call me since he had another meeting come up. Rescheduling took another week. The phone screen with him lasted a few minutes where he spoke about the role and got some information on my background - all of that had been covered in the recruiter phone screen. Finally I was invited for an in-person interview with the hiring manager and another individual who I was not entirely sure what team she was from. They asked me a some general questions on my background and problem-solving.
A week later I was sent an assignment to complete and present to the hiring manager and the same individual from the previous interview. I did not hear back until a few weeks, and finally got an email from the recruiter about their decision to not to move forward with me in the process. I asked for feedback, but never heard back from her. The entire process was unorganized, unprofessional and disrespectful towards the candidate's time.
