Tyler Technologies interview questions

Initial phone interview with HR, follow up phone interview with management, final on-site interview with management / development. The on-site interview was a 3 on 1 interview and technical with some behavioral questions mixed in. The initial interview was quick 20 minute phone call with HR to confirm some basic things and opportunities to ask about the company. The second phone interview was behavioral questions.

One of the strangest interviews I have ever been on. I was called in regards to my resume I submitted by HR. At that point, I had a brief general HR interview about typical fit questions like why are you applying for a position here, why did you leave your previous job, what can you bring to Tyler, etc. I was then told my information would be forwarded to the hiring manager for review. A week later I was contacted by HR again saying they would like to bring me in for an interview with the HR person, technology support supervisor, and the hiring manager. All along I thought this was an interview for an IT helpdesk specialist. Boy was I wrong. At the interview two people were remote, and the technology manager was present. I was then grilled by HR about more fitment questions which are typical. Then the technology supervisor explained the position and come to find out this is a database administrator type job. At this point I'm like wtf because I applied for an IT Helpdesk position. I understood there may be some database involved because of the support of the software they develop but basically I was told that this is more of a database admin/specialist support position and that help desk would be a secondary job to the few people in the office if they had network issues etc. Now I don't mind this, but I sure as heck would not applied if I had known this. My extensive experience was in help desk, I just know enough dba to get myself in trouble. I was then told the job description was wrong on the website and that it was more of a guideline for finding the right person. Really?? Wow. So then I get grilled by the dba manager on stuff that I know about but have not done professionally because you guessed it..I'm an IT helpdesk guy not a dba admin. I felt like a complete idiot. Totally unprofessional and embarrassing. If I wanted to be a database admin I would have applied to be one that is not what I applied for!
