In summary hectic! I had to sponsor myself to one of the interview location and met twice virtually afterwards. This might not represent the general view, but there appear to be a bias in the employment process. People from high-ranked schools might have greater chances of being favored.

Contacted a relevant prof, was asked for 1 to 1 interview initially and then a talk to his group. They were doing interesting things, and were curious about my work too. Overall, a great learning experience and motivation.
