Worst interview I've ever had. Extremely disrespectful to their applicants.
Immediately after the phone interview, they sent me a link requesting five references. FIVE. Two of which had to be from managers. I ignored the request because we hadn't even gotten to the real interview yet.
The actual interview was on Zoom and it was okay. I think I answered extremely well. They then ghosted me for a few days, so I asked for an update. They said they wanted the references completed. I thought they were actually interested in my application so I rushed to ask five people for their reference. It was humilitating but I wanted the job.
After completing the references, I waited for several days again, only to be told that there are a couple "other" great candidates which they also were interested in, but they were also interested in me. I started losing hope at this point and found it shocking they would ask for that many references when they were still considering other applicants (I made sure to ask whether I was their final candidate before submitting references, and they insinuated that I am).
Then, a couple of weeks later, I get a call from the hiring manager and she asks whether I would be interested in working part time as an endo tech and part time as an anesthesia tech. I was extremely confused, I applied and interviewed for the anesthesia tech position, how are you just changing the job description thinking I will be okay with that? On top of that, I would be relocating for this job (that doesn't even pay the rent in such a high COL place like Steamboat Springs).
Well anyway, after a couple more weeks of waiting and being ghosted after that phone call I decided to check the application portal only for it to show I got rejected. Imagine getting rejected after submitting FIVE references. You ruinied my reputation with my references just because you wanted to keep me as a backup. Just be straight-forward instead of lying to your applicants.
I can't imagine what they would have done to me if I actually got hired and relocated. I feel like I dodged a bullet, seems like an extremely toxic workplace.
