The application and hiring process is long and tedious. It is best begun with a trip to the Civilian Personnel Office on post to get detailed information for your needs. Working at the hospital and clinics on post as a civilian you do not get to work anywhere you do not already have experience, and you must have a year of clinical experience elsewhere before being accepted into a GS job on post. Once you are selected for a position the process does not speed up. The time from interview to first day on the job seems to take an average of three months. Do not quit the job you are in until you are given an official offer letter, they can change their mind up to the last minute.
