I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at US Census Bureau in Mar 2010
Interview
I applied online and a few weeks later, I called back to follow up. I was told that management hadn't gotten around to reviewing all applications and yet and would call later (i thought this was a brush off). But they called a few weeks after and after a short (15 minute) convo on the phone, i was offered the job just like that. the phone interview primarily asked a few questions about my hours requirements and availability, and then went through verbatim scripts, and just like that I got the job.
pretty easy and simple.

Contacted me via phone, the interviewer asked to take 5 minutes of my time, asked multiple related questions to the position, and gave me the result right away. was smooth and helpful
