Academic tests are required to determine eligibility after meeting with the recruiter. This test allows the Navy to determine the best career field for you, but they welcome the applicant's interests and work to make the choice one that will equally benefit the Navy and applicant. The process can slow down a bit if the career field you choose is a popular one.

You just walk in and enlist. Your job will depend on how much you socre in the ASVAB. Just be professional and courteous an dont't hesistate to ask the recruiter questions.
