I received an email from the recruiter to discuss my background. He shared that he was excited to pass long my information to the hiring team to determine which of their sales organizations would be the best fit, Select (small group) or the larger accounts. My next interview was rescheduled day off by the interviewer, about 5 minutes before the interview was set to start, as he was busy with another matter that was running over. After our rescheduled conversation, he shared that next steps would be to meet in person with he and another leader. After not hearing back on scheduling the following week, I reached out to inquire about times and dates that worked best for him, and received a call from the recruiter the next day to schedule time. He shared that they are very busy (it’s Q4, I can understand to an extent), and we scheduled a time for mid-week the following week. The day before the interview, I received a call advising that the time needed to be rescheduled for another week out. I called back expressed my well wishes but request to withdraw due to the challenges experienced to date with the interview process. He was able to secure interview time via phone for a few days sooner, as he reported that they were excited to meet with me, however it is now the morning of the interview, 40 minutes passed the appointment, and I have neither heard from the interviewer nor the recruiter despite my inquiry to confirm if I would be hearing from the interviewer as planned. I am one to often grant grace, however this process was unacceptable and unnecessarily challenging. If an organization is seeking to employ and retain individuals, they must be prepared for the hiring and interview process- understanding that this process is illustrative of the overall employee experience and how someone should expect to be treated as a future employee. In this case, the process was illustrative of a lack of communication, commitment, and respect for another’s time and efforts.
