I submitted my application via an employee referral. I was immediately contacted via e-mail to schedule a 30 minute call with a junior recruiter. The call was nice, mostly on the surface re: my resume/"journey" and the script the recruiter had to read about the job. I was given a creative assignment to complete, which I did, but didn't ultimately move forward in the hiring process. I could tell from the assignment that the company is HUGE on metrics--something I knew was my weak point--and so I would suggest that any potential applicants keep this in mind no matter what position they are applying for. Everything must translate into numbers and dollars earned. In any case, I really appreciated Uber's responsiveness to my application--nice to hear back rather than assume your application disappears into a black hole once you've sent it.
