      Ramp Service (Temporary) Interview

      Mar 26, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Houston, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at United Airlines (Houston, TX) in Mar 2015

      Interview

I viewed a PP presentation about the company, benefits, compensation, expectations, and ramp position. Then I was called into a one-on-one interview with one of United's managers, answered some basic behavioral interview questions, and then accepted a contingent job offer. HR paperwork followed immediately after: FBI background check forms, scheduled strength test, drug tests, etc. (4/1/2015) eta* recruiter called to let me know that I failed the strength test and because of this United Airlines had no other choice but to rescind the job offer

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Expect some background verification questions: Is your name___? Is your email address_____? Did you graduate from high school/College? What high school, city and state? What's the highest level of education completed? Can you work in inclement weather? Can you lift, push, pull, 70+ lbs.? Can you meet the needs of United's 24/7 operation (flexible schedule)? Are you willing to submit to a drug test? Can you pass a 10 year background check? Do you have any felonies? Can you adhere to uniform policies (you buy your own uniform bottoms: navy blue Dickies are the norm - long or short pants are fine)? Behavior Questions: Tell me a time where you saw someone doing something unsafe tell me what happened how did you approach the situation and what was the outcome Name a time you were involved with or witnessed an unsafe act; how did you handle it? Have you ever had to deal with a different culture? What was it and how did you handle it? How did you deal with a situation were other employees were not carrying their weight? Hint* To echo the other poster, these are behavioral interview questions and they are looking for you to answer these questions using the STAR technique: Situation (What was happening, What I observed), Task (My duties, my objective, my goal was...), Action, Result.
