      Flight Attendant (Ready Reserve) Interview

      May 12, 2015

      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at United Airlines (San Francisco, CA) in May 2015

      Interview

I applied online on April 15th and got an email to do a Hire Vue video interview a couple of days later. After the video interview I waited about 5 days until I received an email to do a group interview in SFO. United offered flights for interviews, I arrive to SFO May 5th and had the interview started next day at 8 am. The building is a little hard to find, the instruction that are given were not too detailed. Once you get to SFO, go to terminal 3 arrivals/baggage claim. Go out side and walk all the way to the right of the terminal until you see a bus stop that says 21 on it. It is an employee shuttle, hop on it and get off the next stop. I was the first person there, so they had me wait in the lobby. Then I was moved into a room with lots of chairs and a projector, and slowly more and more candidates came in. The Inflight recruiting team started at 8:30 am and pretty much went over the company, benefits, pay, ready reserve meant, and other policies. After they were done going over how great it is to work for United, people were called one at a time to do their individual interviews. I was the 3rd person to be call. The one on one interview was with a flight attendant, she had me read announcement card. The next thing we went over are basic customer service questions. Then we role played a scenario in which we were both flight attendants on a quick flight and that I was lead flight attendant and she didn't want to serve beverage. What was I suppose to say and do in that situation. After that we chit chat about life and food. She finally ask me to think of 3 adjective to best describe me and gave me 30 seconds to think about it. We were done with the interview and she walked me out, I thought I was done and able to go home now since she pointed the bus I needed to take. But then she had me sit down and wait in the lobby. This is where everything became unsure. I thought I had a good interview and everything went well. I had a friend who did an interview the week before mines and she went through all of the same steps and she said she made it to the 2nd round. She also said she thought she did really well with her interview, but she did not get the job. I also read here on glass door that some people only had to go through the first interview process and receive a offer within a week. I waited in the lobby with 3 other people, we talked amongst ourselves and exchange phone numbers so we can tell each other our results. I was called for the next interview, it was with 2 flight attendant and a HR specialist. The interview went quick, they asked why I wanted to work for United and just went through my resume. I was then walked out and excused to go home. I dont know if making it t the 2nd rounds of the interview process is a good or bad thing, but so far those who did, they did not receive an offer for training. I am no sure if going through 1 round is good or bad either. All I know is that it was a great experience and I met some really nice people that I still keep in contact with. My interview was Wednesday and I receive a email on Monday morning saying that I did not get it. I will be trying again next year!
