I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Unum (Columbia, SC) in Mar 2016
Interview
They begin with a leadership pre-screen that asks in depth questions about your leadership experience. If you move on there are two phone interviews. These are behavioral interviews and include short five minute case studies at the end. Definitely spend some time preparing answers about leadership, how you made an impact, and work with others. Try to have several different kinds of examples. Avoid using the same organization or company. The final interview, Assessment Day, is around 2.5 hours. You will do two 40 minute case studies and another behavioral interview based on a business simulation completed before Assessment Day. These are all with executives and senior leadership. Overall, a great experience. Very professional throughout and for the phone interviews I found out the same day I was moving on. For Assessment Day, Unum paid for the hotel, travel, and other related expenses. There is a dinner the night before with executives which is very enjoyable but treat as an "interview" of sorts. I did not receive an offer but was very impressed by the entire experience. This a very competitive process so definitely do your homework. For the case studies, if you practice Mckinsey, Bain, or BCG's simulations you will be fine.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What kind of value do you think Unum will add to you and how will you add value back to our organization?
Began with a prerecorded interview, followed by a short and informal phone call. From there a more formal interview with higher level staff, with the possibility to move on to an assessment day.
I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Unum in Jan 2023
Interview
Submitted my resume and received an email asking me to complete a video assessment days later. After finishing the pre-recorded video I heard back from the HR very soon, who scheduled a phone interview with me. This phone interview was very short and the recruiter only asked about my leadership experience. The next round was a virtual group interview with managers.

It was a four step process. The first was a phone interview, then an interview with the hiring manager on zoom, another zoom interview with a manager, and then the assessment day with VP’s of UNUM.
