I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at VIPKid (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in Jul 2016
Interview
After registering on their teacher recruitment page, I was invited to schedule a 30-minute interview & demo class. The company shares several materials to help you prepare for the interview. A nice Chinese lady conducted my online interview through the teacher portal. She had a slight accent, but I had no trouble understanding her. The interviewer asked me a few questions and gave directions for the demo lesson. At the conclusion of my interview, I was immediately notified of moving on to the next hiring stage.
The next step was to review all the VIPKID training materials and videos. Then I had to schedule 2 separate practicum lessons. The practicum evaluators pretend to be a student while the potential teacher gives a lesson. The lessons are provided by VIPKID and seem to be designed well for young students. Teachers only need to worry about delivering engaging instruction. There is a lot of emphasis on smiling, having high energy, and speaking clearly. It is easy to accomplish if you review all of the study materials beforehand. I was very pleased with the hiring process overall.
Got hired as a British speaking then cancelled as not from America which I disclosed at the first interview which I think was silly and unprofessional at the time it was during covid when this happpened.
Very lenghthy interview process, but the interviewers were nice and helpful. There were several steps to the process and it was pretty involved. I had to prepare a lesson beforehand
It was easy an straightforward. 1 interview and 2 mock classes to pass. They offer a contract for a year with option to renew after 1st contract is over. Overall the process last for about 2 weeks from the time you apply unless you are waitlisted.
