      ESL Teacher Interview

      Jul 19, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at VIPKid (Los Angeles, CA) in Jun 2017

      Interview

Getting hired at VIPKID really depends on your mock evaluator -if they like you or not. My mock 1 evaluator was very kind and patient. I felt I should have failed after Mock 1, but she gave me a chance. I was prepares, but the class did not go so well. Somehow she let me pass. She told me I would be moving on during the mock interview. So I prepared well for my Mock 2 class. My evaluator name Carolyn from Canada said I did very well. My timing was off, but she said I prepared well for the class. She had a lot of good things to say, she made me think I got the job. 24 hours later, I got the email saying I didn't. It was pretty upsetting. I spent a lot of money and time to do well. I am convinced that getting hired at VIPKID depends on who your evaluator is and if they like you or not. Very inconsistent and that's why the hiring process is very difficult. Mind you when you are hired as a teacher, you become competition to these mock evaluators who are also teachers.
