A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn. I told her my immigration status and what I would need before I could proceed. I was told that it should be fine and they were willing to proceed.
Then I had an initial call with the Hiring Manager for 45 mins, had a great time talking to him and the interview went very well.
Then I was scheduled for 4 rounds of interviews one hour each. All of the interviewers were great and I was able to solve all of the challenges given to me. I received good feedback as well.
I was told I would be contacted in a couple of days, which turned into a couple of weeks. Then after following up multiple times I was reached out by the recruiter on LinkedIn to let me know that they are not going to move forward with my application, without giving me any explanation. I spent close to 6 hours in the interview and numerous more to prepare and all I received was a generic reject message on LinkedIn.
I then reached out to the recruiter and the hiring team for feedback, as I knew I did well in the interview. I just wanted to understand what went wrong. I was contacted by the recruiter again to let me know that the hiring team provided good feedback but they do not provide sponsorship.
The first thing I asked the recruiter when we first talked was about the immigration status and about the sponsorship. After spending so much time on the interview I was rejected on something which I made very clear on the very first day.
The hiring team itself was great and I had a great time interviewing with them. The only suggestion from my end Is please respect other's time, effort, and emotions.
