      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Varonis Systems in Mar 2015

      Interview

First interview was with a recruiter, was asked if I knew the difference between a network share and a file share. Second interview was with the SE Manager, great guy basic interview questions. This is the guy that would be my boss. He was a good guy, the questions were basic and I have nothing but positive things to say about this person. Third interview with Regional Sales VP, phone interview nothing crazy. I really think he was just doing a personality check. Fourth interview - face to face with Regional Sales VP, this was a great conversation. He is a motivated and charismatic Sales Director. He is quite young, which is fine with me. I understand that most sales people are coin operated. Fifth interview - VP World Wide Field Engineering (This would be my 2nd line manager). This was a good interview, at this point we dove into the details of the position, how to leverage the product. At this point I thought we were done. However I was told they wanted me to do a 15 minute technical pitch. They told me the topic was wide open. (This is where it went down hill the second time. Side note: the first red flag was early on when they asked me for my list of contacts that I had in the channel, for the region I would be in) They informed me that my 'pitch' just needed to be a 10-15 minute technical pitch about any product. So for the phone call/pitch I decided to go with a tech topic that was geared towards home automation. I was under the impression that what they were 'looking for' was how well a technical person could pitch a product. I listed out three key selling points of the product, and was going through my preso then about half way through I was interrupted by one of the Varonis staff (That I had not previously spoken to, he was a new addition). He basically said that I picked a consumer product and that I wasn't selling the product. He emphasized that his company dealt with enterprises. He then immediately ended the call. I was left dumbfounded! Specifically because everyone on the call said they actually used that products that I was pitching, and recognized the benefits that I was discussing. Ultimately - my problems with the company interview process are/were... 1. Varonis said my pitch could be about anything, they just wanted to have a 10-15 pitch. (Obviously not true, they really should clarify this if they want to have anyone that is even the least prepared.) 2. The interviewers raised red flags with me from the start by asking me for my industry contacts during the first and second interview. They actually wanted to know who my specific contacts were. This seems quite suspicious to me. I tried to let this go as I felt it was really just a pushy sales campaign to seek more leads...but it really came to feel like they are trying to interview as many people as possible, and during the interview process milk out all of the opportunity information that they can.

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Varonis Systems (San Francisco, CA) in May 2016

      Interview

Very general interview questions. The interviewer asked what my thoughts on what Varonis does and if I'd heard of the company before. There was some very generic technical questions to see if I understood where in the security stack Varonis would sit.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Varonis Systems (Denver, CO)

      Interview

Multiple interviews spanning four weeks. HR, Sales Manager, VP of Sales, Regional Sales Manager. The interview was very drawn out, which was fine. It seemed senior management and the front line managers were disconnected on the path of the questions. Also that there was no intercommunication. The face to face with the RSM was odd, not welcoming and uncomfortable. All i felt i received was arrogance and a rude tone and body language. The whole Varonis Systems staff i spoke to were less then welcoming and did nothing to sell me on the culture. It was basically numbers and more numbers. I was very turned off and they did not appreciate my out of the box thinking on the sales process and the SE role. What was really rude and surprising was that I never received a "thank you for your time, but we decided on another candidate email." I took time away from my day and current employer to meet with this company and the fact they miss common courtesy shows their true colors.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do you want to come to Varonis Systems? Why should we hire you? Do you understand making quota and what that means to this position? What skills do you bring to Varonis?

      Interview

Regular interview process. I had 3 separate phone interviews. Everyone was really nice and asked your typical interview questions. The first call was mostly technical questions that were not really that hard. Overall it seemed like a nice organization.
