I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Varsity Tutors in Mar 2016
Interview
I applied online along with my resume. The morning after, I received an email from Varsity Tutors requesting a phone/video interview. I was given time slots to choose from for my phone interview. I scheduled for 10-11AM, the interviewer called around 10:45. The connection was terrible, so the interviewer ended up having to call me back again, but the connection was still bad. Then, he had a different person call me back a few minutes later, and we restarted the whole interview. The interviewer asked about my availability, how I heard about them, what subjects was I most comfortable with, if I spoke any other languages besides English, how much I'm expecting to get paid, etc. She asked questions that tested my knowledge in the subjects that I listed as subjects I'm comfortable in tutoring. I didn't proceed with the second interview, which would have been a video interview because my availability didn't match their current needs.

Question 1
What is the Pythagorean Theorem?
What is FOIL?
What is the slope formula?
You are sent a link to an online video interview. They ask you about previous tutoring experience and the last question was asking you to do a mock-tutoring session. It's very awkward because you have to make up what you want to teach on the spot, but you get unlimited time to think of responses.

AI Interview, very easy. Asked very basic question's regarding experience, motivation, etc. I’m a freshman student in UMD and so I haven’t been to many job interviews, but this was genuinely easy.
