I applied on LinkedIn on July 5, 2023. I was immediately accepted and invited to the next step, i.e., a video interview through HireVue. I completed the video interview right away, and then, there was just silence. After not hearing anything back for weeks, I assumed I had been ghosted and took the lack of engagement as a hint that I didn't make it. Suddenly, on September 18, I received an email with an offer. At that point, the ghosting would have been better than the disappointment of the hourly rate as a highly qualified tutor ($15/hr). I couldn't believe it, but it didn't surprise me either. After all, there is never a mention of the rate in any of their job postings; now I understand why. I had to pass on the offering since I felt it was a joke. I mean, preparing classes, tutoring people, engagement, patience, etc., for a retail/fast food wage and no benefits? No way!
