Over a month after sending in my application, I was contacted by a recruiter. We spoke briefly and I a phone screen was setup with one of the engineering managers/directors. After some small talk, we got to the coding questions. After talking about my thought process and the solution, when I asked a clarifying question to the interviewer, he was completely absent. He came back sometime later and abruptly asked me to explain my code while I was still writing it even though we had plenty of time left. I explained my code, asked him a few questions regarding Veeva and the work, and was never contacted again even after sending an email to the recruiter.
Remember that interviews are as much for the potential employee as they are for the employer. If Veeva doesn't care to have good hiring practices or make a good impression, then why should I care to work for Veeva? Mediocre hiring practices tells me they have no way of filtering out mediocre engineers and I will be avoiding Veeva in the future.
