I knew Verizon Wireless was hiring because an employee who worked there told me of an open position. I gave her my resume which she forwarded to her manager. He saw my managerial qualifications and threw it in the "circular file". When the employee checked on the resume about a week later, he told her what he did not knowing that we knew each other well.
She then called the store manager directly and he called me in for a face to face interview. This interview went fairly well until he found out I wanted a sales position instead of the CSR. I told him I would take whatever but wanted to end up in sales. Bad idea. Don't do this!!! Take what they offer and then transfer in a year or six months. Wish someone would have told me that. He said he would contact HR and they would be calling me to set up an interview and go through the proper channels. NEVER HAPPENED! When my friend asked to asst manager about my interview 2 weeks later, she told her that the manager hired someone who wanted the CSR position instead of sales.
