The process was very unprofessional and lazy on their part. I got an email that someone from talent Acquisitions would reach out to me after my online applications. I had someone reach out to me ASAP and asked me about my availability for next week for a phone interview.
I responded with me being available anytime next week, and I get a response that he will call me the next day itself (on a Thursday) at 4pm for it. I get no calls but an email that he is in a meeting so lets do it next week at the same time.
Next week, I get no calls. I reach out to him on Friday (before 8am), which I get no response to till Monday. He apologized and asked if we can have the call on a Thursday or Friday. I informed that I am available any time. He said we will do it at 1:30pm, I got no calls so I sent an email checking in at 1:34 and then I got a call in a few minutes.
He asked me about myself and what I feel the job is like. Then all the questions I got were on my past projects but was really basic on what kind of projects I have worked on with networks, which was my favorite project, which was the most difficult project but I got the idea that the interviewer had no idea of the technology I was speaking of, nor had he read my resume or had any experience with technology cause I never told him on what programming language my project was done and i never got a follow up question on that (which is the first question we ask as an engineer). I did not get asked anything about my past, me as a person or my field. I was asked about my lack of experience in the field because I am 25. I said gaining industry experience is one of the major take-aways i wanna have.
He asked me questions on what will I do after I got the experience I seek, and gave me the vibes that I was there to gain experience and leave.
It was a very weird interview where there was a lot of silence moments where I asked questions back to fill the time and it barely lasted 15-20 minutes, despite it being a 30 minute interview.
It seemed the company was least interested in hiring me and they were wasting my time. I did some research and my interviewer had a Bachelors in Arts from a local College and that explained his lack of knowledge in Technology, while I have a masters from a top engineering college in the field (where I did many of my projects).
Next week I get a rejection email which was not surprising considering his lack of interest to begin with.
