The interview process for ViaSat was quite drawn out. The entire process from my initial application to rejection was 3 months. I submitted online initially and was contacted by HR a month later. I did a phone screen and was told I would hear back. 3 weeks later they contacted me to set up a skype interview.
The skype interview lasted about an hour. There were 3 people from ViaSat in attendance. Two technical supervisors and 1 person from HR. Questions were half behavioral and half technical. All of the questions were IT based. Was asked to go through OSI layers. Was asked about OSPF, TTL, TCP/IF, difference between swtich and router, BGP, what ping does and how it can be used in detail.
Was told there would be a followup after interview. Followup took 2 weeks. Was told they hadn't made a decision yet. Was then asked to do another skype interview. Second skype interview was one on one. It was short and I was asked more networking questions. Asked about Cisco and Juniper networking commands.
Was contacted about a week later to let me know I didn't get the position.
HR led me to believe they would have offered in the $20/hr range with no relocation.
