Very lengthy process. 4 Interviews: 2 phone, 2 in-person. About a week in between each. Phone interviews were about 30 minutes each. In-person interviews were 2.5 hours each. Wow.
First in-person interview was with the entire marketing team (not all at once). Second in-person was with the dept. director. They took me to lunch, the team was very nice.
Before the final interview, they have you do a "case study" or as I like to call it, free consulting. They had me review their website and write down recommendations.
The most negative aspect of the process was that they never told me that they went with someone else. After 3 weeks, I figured that was the case but emailed anyway and not until the second email did I hear back. For 6+ hours of my time (not including travel time), I would have expected a little more courtesy.
If I were to guess why they didn't pick me, it would be that another candidate "wowed" them with the case study. I was told by the director that his main hangup was knowing how good I am at Excel. From what I could tell, they weren't really complex in their Excel use. I don't know. I never know why I'm not the candidate they choose but oh well.
It looks like the reposted the job after telling me they went with someone else. Interesting.
